Ripples Chowder Bay
Harbourside dining in the old Submarine Miners' Depot
Ripples Chowder Bay is in the nineteenth-century Submarine Miners' Depot at Clifton Gardens, inside Sydney Harbour National Park. The building is stone and timber, and the water starts a few metres from the deck.
The food is seafood and seasonal produce with a Mediterranean lean, set up for lunches that run well past their allotted hour.
Lunch starts at midday on weekdays and 11.30 at weekends. Dinner is Wednesday to Sunday from 6. Ring if you want a late sitting.
It is a long way from any main road, which is much of its appeal. Come by boat if you can.
